Little Pigs in the Blanket |
||||
| You have all probably had Pigs in the Blanket made with
hot dogs and
crescent rolls or seen the commercial on TV. Here is an adaptation you can use for
an appetizer, breakfast, brunch or a treat for the kids. Make them with turkey
sausage links and you'll cut the fat in half without loosing the flavor. Each
sausage link is about 1 ounce of meat. Plan on about 3 to 4 "piggies" for
each adult or 2 for small children for breakfast. Cut the recipe in half using 8
sausage links and purchase the smaller package of 4 crescent rolls.
|
||||
Preheat the oven to 375°. Cook the sausage links until thoroughly done, turning until browned on all sides. Place links on paper towel to drain. . Allow links to cool until you can handle them without burning your fingers. Open the crescent rolls and spread flat on a cutting board. Separate pre-scored rolls and cut each roll in half diagonally. If the triangles are not absolutely even, it doesn't make a difference. Place one sausage link on a piece of dough at the widest portion and roll toward the point. Let the kids do the rolling. Place each on a baking sheet with the point of the roll facing up. Bake about 10 minutes until rolls are brown. Serve warm. |
