Michelada

We enjoyed this on a delightful, Saturday afternoon culinary tour to Nogales, Sonora, Mexico.  The name means "my cold beer".  I found several different recipes, some eliminate the tomato juice, some use Clamato juice.  This one is the closest in taste as served at the El Toro Steak House.  These amounts are for one drink.

For information about the Nogales tour visit the Rio Rico Resort and Country Club website at http://rioricoresort.com/mexico.html. Rio Rico is 45 minutes south of  Tucson on Interstate 19.  The cost is $63 per person including the bus ride, an informational tour of the city, a visit to two restaurants and Ley, a supermarket owned by Safeway.  Reservations can be made by calling 520-377-7318.

course ground, margarita or Kosher salt
    chili powder, to taste
    ground cumin, to taste
lime, preferably the small limon type or key lime
6 ounces of beer

1 ounce tequila
1 tablespoon lime juice or to taste
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
   Tabasco sauce to taste
   chilled tomato juice

Combine salt, chili powder and cumin and place in shallow bowl or saucer.  Cut the lime in quarters and squeeze juice around rim of 10 or 12 ounce glass.  Salt the rim of the glass.

Fill glass about half full of ice.  Add beer, tequila, lime juice, Worcestershire and Tabasco sauce.  Fill glass with tomato juice.  Stir.  Garnish with a wedge of lime.
